Area Elections Held On Tuesday
Pierpont voters decided to return their incumbent to the city council, and Lake City voters opted to expand its city board in two area elections held on Tuesday.
Incumbent JaDee Dwight received 47 votes to defeat challengers Salina Pena with nine votes, and Wayne Schmidt with one vote in Pierpont’s city election. A total of 57 of Pierpont’s 88 eligible voters went to the polls for a 65 percent turnout.
In Lake City a petition was filed requesting that the city board be expanded from three to five members. Just four of 26 voters were against that proposal, while 22 voters were in favor of the expansion. A total of 26 of Lake City’s 34 eligible voters turned out to vote for a 76 percent turnout.
